You know you’re in the US when:
1. You refer to home cooked food as Indian food.
2. You stock up on “Indian” movies and spend weekends watching those.
3. You love the gaudy, bright salwar suits which you hated when in India simply because they look Indian 🙂
4. You spend all your time on youtube catching up with Bollywood, Mollywood etc. (so much so that your blog is since few days stocked with youtube links lol)
5. You load your iPod,Ipad wateva with Indian songs and especially love hearing the “mera bharat mahaan” genre of songs.
6. You start using the word “like” a lot in your convos for e.g. “I went there and was thinking like it’s so weird”.
7. You are actually happy to see another brown face in the crowd.
8. You are annoyed when those brown faces are the only faces that don’t smile.
9. You say “How are you” umpteen number of times in a day.
10. You call what we knew as burgers a sandwich.
11. You have a favorite drink in Starbucks.
12. If you’re a full figured woman, well that dress you liked in the store – it actually is available in your size – unlike home where I search dresses for size first before looking :p
13. Oh, you call “shops” as “stores” 🙂
14. Directions to your office goes “off exit 1 and on 245” as opposed to “10 min by auto and the white building next to xyz store”.
15. You hear “kohls” and think of a store and not well volcano/fire :pWill add more as I think of it hehe..
