Came across this in the Notes section of my phone written by me in May 2013. Had to share it.
‘Then he fell on his knees and cried out, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” When he had said this, he fell asleep. (Acts 7:60 NIV)’
When Stephen was being stoned to death, it says he fell asleep.
I believe that’s the power of Gods protection, even when life throws stones our way, and we feel like we can never make it through, God gives us rest. I imagine the angels of God would have gathered around Stephen so he would not get hurt, and as Stephen prayed and granted forgiveness to those who were intent on killing him, Stephen fell asleep.
In my life, the things that have happened recently, I would have thought that I would not be able to sleep or eat because of worry. But by God’s grace, I have been so rested. I am healthier physically, mentally, and spiritually and I have this unexplainable, illogical peace and assurance in my heart.
I’ve wondered about it, how come I was not worried. Anyone who knows me in the past few years would recollect a person who always worried – the ifs and buts have given me living nightmares in the past. But no longer, by His grace!
As I read this passage, I realize it is because my Lord is protecting me from the stones of life and giving me rest.
Thank You Father for the grace and strength You give us when it feels like we have none of our own. Thank You for the peace and joy that surpasses all human understanding. Thank You for Your amazing love and the gentle reminders and lesson You give me each day. Thank You for You!

This is really good, he does give us peace when we need it.
Amen, God is good. Thing is we don’t often realize it at the time, for me at least it struck me only when people asked me how I was coping and I realized it was just His grace, because not only am I peaceful but I am filled with hope and joy too. Praise to Him!
