Guilt and repentance for sin – are we ignoring it?

Courtesy the TV show CSI: ‘Our culture preaches that you shouldn’t be ashamed of anything you do anymore, and unfortunately this city is built on the principle that there’s no such thing as guilt and says “Do whatever you want, we won’t tell”. Without a conscience there’s nothing to stop you from killing anyone. Evidently you don’t even have to feel bad about it.‘

If we think of these words in terms of sin and morales, we see that this has a lot of relevance in today’s world.

So I’ve found myself thinking a lot about sin and guilt and how this falls with the life where we are known as a child of God.And I’m being taught by God that becoming His child doesn’t mean I won’t be tempted, I will be – possibly every day of my life I will be tempted to do something that is wrong. At a personal level, it’s not always the big sins we say like Murder, Stealing, Adultery, Sloth, Greediness etc. but it’s the small ones like getting angry for the smallest things, telling white lies to get out of tricky situations, thinking or saying mean stuff about anyone.And the one way I know the Holy Spirit is guiding me is the fact that each and every time, I hear the voice telling me “No, what you’re doing is wrong.”. This starts off an internal argument in my head where I have to plead my case of why I think I can but of course I too know that I’m wrong (the guilt in me then starts eating away). And it’s tough to readily give in but I’m slowly and steadily learning to listen to that voice because I am a child of God and I have to listen to Him. And truthfully speaking, it’s given me a peace of mind I’ve been missing past couple of months.This even touches me when I see tv shows, videos etc. which promote sins like homosexuality, sexual relations before marriage, alcoholism, drug addiction etc. as being cool and as being accepted. A popular worldly song goes “I was born this way.” and it’s true only to the extent that we’re born sinners but what they don’t say is that no matter you’re born as, when you’re born again – you are no longer that which you were and no longer made of the sins of the past. Victory can be achieved through Him.

Also recently, heard a lot about people being offended by anyone referring to Jesus in public and more recently protests over saying prayers and etc. And I’m realizing that probably why they’re so scared is because even the demons and forces of darkness know the power in His name and they know that what’s declared in His name cannot be touched by them. So obviously whatever spirit of darkness it is in them, it tells them not to even listen to it.

So as a child of God I’m realizing we have to give glory to God and declare His name and sing His praises because every word of praise to Him, and every time we say “Our Lord Almighty Jesus Christ”, Darkness shivers!!!

So be bold, stay strong in your faith, declare His name, claim victory over all your shortcomings through His blood.
