Wake up call – Part 2

As Christians, we declare to turn away from behavior that’s deemed to be outright wrong for a child of God like drinking alcohol, immoral behavior, secular music. However we convince ourselves that those which are not shown obviously are alright. Is this right? No, not at all, none of it is right. We continue to do petty things like put up facades of friendliness then gossip as soon as the other person turns away. We hold grudges against people for things of the past and sometimes the present. We cold shoulder people because we feel they did something wrong to us. We continue to criticize others and their doings or appearances, not looking at what we’re doing which is even worse. We condemn others as “wrong” and “unworthy” because of their sins and tell them they can’t come to our churches because of their past. We anger easily and forgive slowly.Majority of my life I have always questioned how we children of God could be so blind to this? Has Satan actually convinced us that we’re perfect and that we need no correction? There’s a funny quote I’ve heard “I’m the smartest man in the world, because I realize that I know nothing”. I remember this quote because I have felt like if ever in my life I were to feel that “I was whole and worthy of God’s love and blessings” then that’s when I was starting to go wrong. Each day I am thankful to God and what reminds me His goodness and mercies is realizing that all He has given me was not because I was perfect, simply His love and blessing manifesting in my life.

My loved ones ask me why do you bother about how others are behaving, you pray and change yourself. But I’m slowly realizing that perhaps may have put it in my heart for a purpose, not because I had perfected it but God was teaching me and I  was best to share it as I experienced it – I need to share with people, not any other people of the world, the “children of God”,  that they need to realize that you cannot live as you live thinking that God will not mind the small sins just as God is teaching me each day that I have to lay down every little cross in my life and draw closer to the person i am in Him. To Him it is not about a big sin or a small sin, sin is sin.

We each in our jobs worry about how we represent our employers at work – we don’t do anything unprofessional. We don’t badmouth our supervisors because we fear losing our jobs. We are loyal to our jobs. We need to realize that on earth, we represent Christ. And the prize we win in the end is no money that runs or no gadget that wears out but an eternity with our Father in heaven. That is what we all should be hoping and waiting for, to join Him during His second coming.

His coming is so soon, the signs we see – how sinful and corrupt the world has become and continues to become only proves this more. It’s so easy to lose our focus and worry about things on this earth but I’m realizing that instead of worrying about the clothes, food, jobs, houses etc. on this world it is time for us to prepare for His coming and as importantly proclaim His word to save souls from the fate they face if they continue on their ways of the world. Yes definitely we need to do our responsibilities of daily life but not forget that what we are working for is not this world but Eternity.
