Are fat people nicer?

Note: I hate the f word – FAT – so for the post below (unless unavoidable) – FAT is now replaced by over-healthy 🙂

So I’ve never really thought about this – but seems that there is some truth to this, well at least most of the time. That being said, I myself am over-healthy but don’t consider myself in the nicer group. I always have (like a best guy friend says of himself) been a thin person stuck in a over-healthy body. So I think and act sadly like a thin (mean person) while being over-healthy.

Now again, am sure there are thin people who are nice but let’s be realistic – which is more likely a comment we’d say “Wow” to – “she looks like a supermodel and she’s nice too” or “she’s over-healthy and she’s nice too”. In your head, I’m guessing option 1 went bing.

I remember hearing my sister talk once about how when sharing desks with college mates, she preferred sitting with the over-healthy people cuz they were more considerate about space and sit in their slots unlike the thinner ones who took the entire table in their various stylish?! poses.

I’ve also noticed that in a crowd, I’d most likely smile at and think to talk to someone who’s over-healthy rather than someone who’s thin and attractive. Maybe it’s psychological – perhaps the world’s obsession with being thin has left us feeling edgy about approaching the in-crowd (rather thin crowd). Of course it doesn’t help that every movie you see about a fat person struggling with themselves, they are bullied/ridiculed/mocked by the perfect looking thin people 🙂

So my conclusion, perhaps you can’t say “fat’ people are always nicer and that thin people are mean but maybe less scary in our minds than the all too perfect thin people.

And again the fat vs thin – differs for men and women. I mean a fat guy can still be cool, but if it’s a girl it’s virtually the end-of-the-world situation for her. Let’s keep that for another post, shall we!!!
