Have you ever been to the situation where you walk up to someone and they seem to ignore you? I’ve never encountered it as such but I got a rude shock a few days back at a conference I attended.
Now it was a 2 day program and there were around 25-30 people attending and at some we got to introduce and mingle with each other. Now at the end of the program, as we were leaving there was this one senior lady who I thought was a good person to know so I went over to say bye to her and it was odd because I had just passed by when she was passing her business card to few others and I thought she’d offer me the card too since we had talked during the event. But she smiled and turned away – needless to say I couldn’t bring myself to stay on after that and I left. That was last week and somehow even today, it’s bothering. I mean, Sure she’s got 10-15 years of experience and I’m still at 3 years but does that make it alright o snub? I don’t know – I hope I haven’t done that to anyone and sincerely hope I don’t in the future – to my knowledge if I realize someone in the group is being left out of the conversation, I talk to them and try to make them comfortable (to avoid the “They ignored me” feeling).
Trying to put it behind me but still on my mind – hoping it clears off soon!!
Maybe someday I’ll meet her again and that time, she won’t be able to snub me because just maybe, that day I’ll be a somebody!! Umm..either that or I’ll just pretend like I didn’t see her hehe…
